PASPEC, short for: “San Pedro Claver Food Project” was established in 2005 by a family who decided to give back to the most vulnerable in thanksgiving to God for providing health to a family member diagnosed with a rare type of lung cancer. Inspired by the almsgiving of San Pedro Claver, they started off distributing food among some families in need within the Rio Verde-Cutupu area. Today, more than 100 elderly adults and vulnerable families are being treated with a plate of food at their doorstep 365 days a year.
